APPLICATION NOTE: Sample Printer setup screens
for DATASMITH Custom Payroll Versions 8.3 and later.

  1. This setup screen puts a HP Laserjet II, III, or IV printer into Landscape mode for both Normal and Wide reports.
    Wide reports of up to 127 columns are accomodated with the selected 12 Character/inch font. This setup also uses the double and single line graphic characters ("ÍÍ" and "ÄÄ") instead of the equals sign and dash ("==" and "--"). To enter these graphics characters from the keyboard: A. For the double line: i. Hold down the 'Alt' key. ii. On the numeric keypad, type '205' while still holding down 'Alt'. iii. Release the 'Alt' key. B. For the single line:
    • i. Hold down the 'Alt' key.
    • ii. On the numeric keypad, type '196' while still holding down 'Alt'. iii. Release the 'Alt' key.

  2. The following setup supports Wide reports in Portrait mode by changing to a 16.67 character/inch font. This allows printing 132 column reports on 8.5" wide forms.
