Industry standard microcomputer system: 386, 486, Pentium, P6, or later
compatible system recommended.
Automatically adapts to MS-DOS/PC-DOS 3.1+, Novell DOS, DR-DOS, Windows 3.1,
Windows 95/98/NT/XP, OS/2, and compatible environments.
At least 485 KB of available user memory (RAM).
At least one 5.25" or 3.5" diskette drive plus a hard disk or an IOMEGA
ZIP® or JAZ® drive. Custom Payroll requires approximately 10 MB for
program and system file storage plus 270 KB per hundred employees for each
pay period required "on-line" (minimum two periods).
Custom Payroll automatically adapts to any standard monochrome or color display
which provides at least 80 columns and 24 lines of text and industry standard
graphics. VGA, SVGA or better is recommended.
A Minimum of 80 column capacity and a tractor feed mechanism is recommended.
Printers for continuous checks or W-2 and other government form production
should be rated for a minimum of four copies, 10 characters per inch pitch,
and 6 lines per inch vertical spacing. A bottom feed or a "straight through"
paper path is recommended for forms and labels, and compressed printing for
wide reports is supported. Hewlett Packard Laserjet, Deskjet, and 100% compatible
printers which support HP PCL4+ and/or PJL are supported by Standard Payroll,
and by our DATACHECK and DATAFORM options for professional payroll preparers.
LOCAL AREA NETWORK (LAN)
Custom Payroll can be operated successfully on most industry standard LAN's.
Two-station simultaneous reporting from a single payroll data file is permitted.
Workstations running different operating systems can share the program via
a LAN or multitasking environment to work on several payrolls at once.
The program is designed to handle more than 32,000 employees in each payroll. It
is being used in the field with over 19,000 employees/payroll, and has been
laboratory tested with files containing more than 60,000 employees.
DOS file size limits may reduce the maximum size in some older machines,
or in new machines running older operating system versions.
The number of Payrolls is limited only by your disk storage capacity.
The number of different Companies is limited only by your disk storage capacity.
Each Payroll may belong to a different company.
Weekly, Biweekly, Semi-Monthly, Monthly, or user-defined periods from Annual
Internal Precision to 16 Decimal Digits for YTD and Current dollar values.
Standard configuration handles pay & deductions to $99,999 per period
and $9,999,999 YTD for each employee. Large Current Amounts Option handles
pay & deductions to $99,999,999 per period.
STATE, LOCAL, AND OTHER TAXES
Standard configuration provides up to 12 States, 12 Localities, and 12 Other
Taxing Authorities (School Districts, SUI/SDI, Counties, etc.). Custom Payroll
can be configured to provide up to 56 States and "state-like" authorities,
99 Localities, and 99 Other Taxing Authorities. State-specific tax routines
and region-specific, user-titled "Local" and "Other" tax calculations provide
versatility and easy setup without compromising calculation accuracy.
Custom Payroll can calculate 1 to 2 complete, detailed paychecks per second
on even the slowest PC. It is considerably faster at higher clock speeds,
with more advanced processors, coprocessors, or hard disk drives. Speed will typically
exceed 250 detailed paychecks per second on a modern 1 GHZ machine with a 7200 RPM disk drive.
